After an initial design completed by another designer was refused by council, the client approached First angle to create a product that would work with the site & adhere to the council requirements which led to the previous application being refused, there was also a request by the clients to create a product with a point of difference to other developments in the area.
The end result was a very architectural 2 unit design which took with it portions of the modern styles of existing residences in the area & twisted them into a more architectural form. The flat roofed rendered, weatherboard & stone clad units sit comfortably but uniquely within the area & conform to all the council requirements.
The homes have also been designed with sustainability in mind, achieving 7 stars they are efficient & effective in design. The use of Louvre glass windows allows for cross flow ventilation to occur to its full potential. Internally in the living areas are feature columns acting as thermal mass and the home has reduced glazing to the western elevations with large expanses to the north elevations. The home is to be insulated with woollen insulation batts & will be fitted with solar electricity & rain water tanks.
